We are husband and wife Abu & Umm Ruqayya, founders of Hikmah Birthing.

It took us several years to get to the point of needing to take antenatal classes and so it was imperative for us to ensure that despite any turns our first birth would take, we could remain as calm and grateful for our opportunity to become parents, however this may be.

We took part in a face to face hypnobirthing course with our first child with online access to another, and just the online version with our second. Our experiences with these courses were undoubtedly empowering but we took it upon ourselves to cross-reference, adapt and fill in the gaps with the teachings that the Qur'an, Sunnah and our respected 'Ulema had given us. 

Shortly after giving birth, we facetimed family and friends and was met with disbelief upon hearing about the blissful birthing experience. We didn't quite know it then but by this point, the foundations of Hikmah Birthing were formed and proven to be successful.

As professionals in management, quality improvement and coaching (Abu Ruqayya works in Islamic Education Publishing & Umm Ruqayya, the NHS), developing a course that  empowers individuals to achieve greater outcomes made absolute sense. 

Because Hikmah Birthing comes in addition to our primary parenting and professional roles, it is a limited offer albeit one that is packed with passion. We have developed courses to support those preparing for birth and professionals that support births.

We pray that Allah accepts this as a form of Khidmah, and we ask that you keep us in your most humble du'as - especially those of our expectant mothers.
